What inventory software to use

I am opening a used book and media store. I am trying to decide on the time of business/inventory software that would be best suited for my business. Can anyone offer any suggestions on what is good, what is bad and what may work for me? I will have a scanner to scan in my inventory and would like to track everything, project cost/profits, ect.
